I Love AeroPress Coffee

My birthday was a few weeks ago and my five year old daughter decided that she was going to plan my party.  She enlisted my husband to help her but it was less about his abilities and more about the fact that he had money to make her plans a reality.

I'm not sure that she'll ever hire him again because he totally dropped the ball a cake she had wanted made.

Her theme was based on something that I love and talk about all the time.

Coffee.

My little Rookie Foodie had my husband take her to Sur La Table and talked him into a number of lovely gifts to make all of my coffee dreams come true!

One of my favorite gifts is the AeroPress Espresso Maker.  It's like a french press but it uses air pressure and the grounds are totally saturated in the water.  It makes for an incredibly smooth cup of coffee or espresso.

I'm mostly using it on the weekends when I have more time to boil water (note to self: get a kettle).

Disclaimer:  I have not been paid to talk about the AeroPress or Sur La Table.

Nectresse No Calorie Sweetener

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of NECTRESSE™Sweetener for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've mentioned before that I'm a little bit of a sugar addict.  I blame my Mother because she use to put hot tea (with sugar and creamer) in my bottle when I was a baby!

I'm excited to share my new discovery with you today!  It's NECTRESSE™Sweetener and it is fantastic!  IT is the only 100% natural zero calorie sweetner made from the goodness of real fruit.  It gets it's sweetness from monk fruit, a small green melow that grows in the remote mountain regions.  Monk fruit extract is about 150 times sweeter than sugar and has zero calories per serving.

I decided to try my FREE sample of NECTRESSE™Sweetener in one of my favorite comfort foods.  Risengrod!  No, I'm not Danish, but I am Swedish and have a friend from Denmark that taught me how to make this.  There is nothing I love more than a hot bowl of rise pudding and now that fall is coming, I'll be eating it all the time.

Risengrod

1 1/4 cup water

1 cup rice

4 1/2 cups milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 packets of Nectreese No Calorie Sweetener

butter

1 packet Nectreese No Calorie Sweetener

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Place water and rice in a medium cooking pot, cover with lid and simmer for 5 minutes.  Add the milk, salt and 2 packets of sweetener, and then simmer over low heat for 40 minutes.  Stir the rice mixture often for that the milk doesn't burn.

Mix a packet of sweetener and cinnamon together.   Please one cup of Risengrod in a bowl, sprinkle with sweetener/cinnamon mixture and top with a slat of butter.  The butter will melt into your delicious risengrod and you will be so happy!

I'm not the only one that loves Nectreese No Calorie Sweetener.  Lisa Ling loves it too.

Bonnie Brae Ice Cream

I knocked a bunch of things off my foodie bucket list today ( more on that later) and it reminded me that I've been remiss in posting my adventures in ice cream.

In July (i think) we visited Bonnie Brae Ice Cream on a whim.   As in, I said....hey!  Who wants some ice cream and we drove like bats out of hell to another part of town without checking the weather and found ourselves at Bonnie Brae.

We got caught in a major downpour and I was glad I wasn't wearing a white shirt that day.

We loved the ice cream and my husband was VERY happy with all of the choices of flavors.  I'm easy.  I had the mocha.

I don't remember what the kids had but they loved it.

Come to think of it....it was probably Rocky Road and Chocolate.  Their stand by order.  Maybe someday they'll branch out.  Oh what am I saying....I get Coffee most of the time.
